Acid attack survivor Reshma Bano Qureshi, along with Ria Singh, Founder of NGO- Make Love Not Scars, and it's CEO- Tania Singh visited Sunbeam Suncity today. With felicitations of the guests by our Director - Mrs. Bharti Madhok, followed by Deep Prajwalan, began a very engaging interaction of the guests with the Suncity Sunbeams.
Reshma was scarred for life after her face was disfigured in an acid attack in 2014.
“I survived the attack, didn’t I? How can I ever be a victim?” she said, adding that she feels more beautiful now than ever, as her perception of beauty has changed.
She went on to say, “Make your heart beautiful. Beauty it not just about how you look,”.
Reshma went into depression after she saw her face in the mirror for the first time, a few weeks after the attack. She cut herself off from the world and even contemplated suicide. But life had other plans for her and her meeting with Ria and Tania brought her fame that she so rightly deserved. Ever since, she has been visiting organisations and meeting people to spread awareness about #EndAcidSale#, and educate people about the gloom and despair acid attack brings along.
After the interaction, the book signing corner, was flooded with students who bought the two books - Being Reshma, and Make Love Not Scars, with an autographed note on each copy.
