Academic Support Services
Reinforcement Classes
Students securing 50% and below are put in remedial classes. Students securing between 50% and 75% are put in improvement classes. These classes are organised in the Middle, Senior and Senior Secondary levels for those children who require extra coaching. Intensive and exam-oriented coaching is offered to ensure enhanced performance.
Enrichment Classes
Apart from the school curriculum, enrichment classes are also scheduled for the boarders to get their academic problems solved and queries answered. A group of efficient teachers is engaged keeping in mind the need for focused and individual attention during problem solving. Surprise class tests, mock exams before half yearly and annual exams are conducted to identify the lacunae in students’ preparation and measures are taken to rectify the same.
Hobby classes
Through the means of hobby classes, students can choose any of the hobbies as per their interest and pursue them in the leisure time after school. These include dance (classical, western), music (vocal, drum, guitar, key-board, tabla, violin etc.), different game and sports, foreign languages, art and craft classes are arranged for the borders to give them the opportunity to bring out their talent and to ignite the creativity within them. It helps them to give expressions to their thoughts.
Career Counseling and Personal Development
Counsellors of national repute visit our school regularly to conduct workshops with our students to evaluate their aptitude and also to expose them to various career options available. Personality grooming is another area that the professional counselors focus on during their workshops with the students. Regular personal development programmes are conducted for all boarders.
A professional counsellor visits the school on alternative days for all students.
Value education is an integral part of the curriculum at Sunbeam. Yoga, meditation and motivation classes are arranged for the students, which teach them to attain mental peace and strength. ‘Art of living’ sessions are arranged in which the students are taught an ideal way of living. Special prayer service ‘Sarva Dharma Prarthana’ and Hawan are conducted for the hostel students on every Sunday. At Sunbeam, the environment teaches its students the spirit of patriotism. ‘Jai Hind’ is the phrase, which is used to greet each other. It helps the students to express o feeling of love for the country.
Students’ resource Centre
The HRC is equipped with 10 high speed core 2 Duo PCs with 24 hrs broadband connection to help students complete their assignments and also remain abreast with the latest in education. It also stocks 5000 volumes of good books and number of audio video aids for continuous enrichment of the knowledge bank of students.
Continuous assessment for boarders
In our effort to instill the three mottos of Sunbeam - Duty, Devotion and Discipline among the boarders, we propose to introduce the Continuous Assessment of Boarders (CAB) marking system. These marks are noted in the student's behavior diary and students are awarded accordingly with certificates of appreciation. It is highly advisable that students familiarize themselves with this material.
